Top five of 2010: body care edition

Lotions, gels, creams, scrubs and soaps, oh my! There is always a wealth of body products that hit the market every year, and it’s quite a challenge to keep up with them all! Here are five favorites that we tried and loved this past year.

  1. Olay Body Wash, Plus Tone Enriching Ribbons. This might be magic, I’m not sure. It says that after only a few washes, you will see an improvement in your skin’s tone. I noticed a change after the first use, and it’s because it has a slight shimmer to it, which looks amazing on your skin. I use this more when I’m showing off some skin, and using my other favorite, Olay Body Wash, Plus Spa Exfoliating Ribbons when I’m not showing so much skin. These body washes ALMOST eliminate your need for lotions, especially if your skin isn’t already dry.
  2. Mario Badescu Summer Shine Body Lotion – shimmer lotion can be tricky. But you can always count on Mario Badescu to put out something for grownups, and this light shimmer lotion is tasteful and not full of glitter. No one over the age of 35 needs to run around looking like Ke$ha. Looks great over a (self) tan.
  3. And speaking of self-tanners, they have come a long, long way. However, there is now an excellent option for a one day tan: Sublime Bronze One Day Tinted Gel. This gives a lovely bronze glow but washes away in your next shower. Layer it for darker results.
  4. And in the summer, body scrubs are so important. My absolute favorite (and everyone else’s too, since I can’t ever grab it at my local counter!) is Beach Body Scrub/6.9 oz.. When I can’t get my hands on that one, and in the winter, I reach for my handy Boots Mediterranean Body Scrub, Almond, Pistachio & Olive.
  5. Patyka Rosewood Body Oil – there is no substitute for this luxury. I was introduced to this organic French line this past fall, and haven’t looked back. It is in heavy rotation in my daily body care routine.

What products did you find this year that you can’t live without?
