If you are a fan of cult perfume brand Bond No. 9, you know that the various neighborhoods throughout New York City have been a constant inspiration for an extensive line of fragrance for men and women. Now, Bond No. 9 is moving out of the city and into the state for their newest collection. There will be 15 fragrances in all, each fragrance inspired by something in New York state.
Each bottle features the iconic I Heart NY logo, designed by Milton Glaser in 1977, and will be made with the finest ingredients available. There are three scents in the debut of the line, one for women, one for men, and one unisex fragrance. This line is meant to be effortless, wearable chic.
I Heart NY for Her is a gourmand, with opening notes of mandarin zest, nutmeg, and blueberry muffin (!). These fade into the heart of the scent, rose, pink peony, and patchouli. The base notes are what make it interesting: burbon vanilla frosting, sexy musk, sandalwood, and soft leather. I expect this fragrance to be sweet with a touch of something a bit dirty, due to the patchouli and leather.
I Heart NY for Him sounds crisp and energetic with top notes of grapefruit zest, ginger, juniper berry and something called an electric energy accord, which sounds fascinating. The middle consists of lavender, geranium, patchouli and leather. The lingering base notes are sandalwood, basalm-like labdanum, musk, and a modern amber.
I Heart NY for All also seems gourmand with top notes of bergamot, lily of the valley, and black pepper. The heart of the fragrance is a creamy coffee bean and chestnut concoction. Base notes are patchouli, leatherwood, the ever-present sandalwood, and vanilla. I’m not sure what I’ll make of this one, but I’m eager to sniff it.
The fragrances will come in two sizes, 50 mL ($105) and 100 mL ($175). Candles and body lotion, among other things, are expected to be added to the line soon.
The line will be sold, along with the other iconic NYC fragrances at Bond No. 9 boutiques located at Bond Street, Bleeker Street, Sag Harbor, High Line, and two Madison Avenue boutiques. They can also be found at certain Saks Fifth Avenue stores, Nordstrom, and Harrods in the UK. The new line will be available beginning on September 18 everywhere, although the High Line boutique will be presenting the perfumes during Fashion’s Night Out on September 8, 2011.
