At any rate, this is the Almay Intense i-Color Smoky i-Powder Shadow Palette. Let’s just call it the Intense Palette from here on out, okay? It is supposed to be for blue eyes, but I don’t follow rules like that. My eyes are brown, and I love blue shadows. It features a dark smoky matte blue, a gold, and a silver shadow. There is shimmer to the gold and silver, but the blue is a gorgeous matte that applies fairly well, although I’d like more pigmentation so as not to have to pack the shadow on with four layers.
As an aside, I notice that when it comes to some drugstore products, I have better luck with anything that is labeled “intense,” and I think it’s because I’m used to shadows with heavy pigmentation, rather shadows that are more of a watercolor type wash. Most people probably don’t like what they would consider heavy or dark shadows, so please bear that in mind when I share my observations.
For the price, it’s an easy to use palette with a good color payoff. I haven’t been overly impressed with Almay products before, so it’s nice to come across one that I actually do like.
The Almay Smoky Palette is available at drugstores nationwide (as of 9/6, I could not find it locally, but a major rollout should be coming soon) as well as Amazon for about $5.99. See the swatches below.
