Brooke Shields 80s

If you’re as old as I am, chances are you remember the strong brows of the 80′s. The one person who comes to mind is definitely Brooke Shields – she personified the trend, and all of us with bigger brows (and brunette hair) breathed a sigh of relief since we wouldn’t have to pluck within inches of our lives.

Fast forward to 2012, and we are again seeing some major brows on the runway. From shows such as Thakoon, Derek Lam, and Altazurra, models were sent down the runway with natural, shaped brows that stood out. It wasn’t too long ago that I read that if you can shape three areas on a woman’s face,  you can change the way they look. Those three things were brows, lips, and cheeks.

I’ve been growing my sparse, over-plucked brows out for some time now without much success, and I stumbled upon a couple of products that I’m interested in giving a try. Both are from Talika, one of my favorite brands, and both are specifically geared towards helping those of us with over-plucked brows a second chance.

Talika Eyebrow LipocilsTalika Eyebrow Lipocils is a long term solution to remedy over-plucked brows. Using nettle and horse chestnut extract, it increases circulation and helps brows achieve their maximum genetic potential in 28 days.

Talika Eyebrow ExtenderThe Talika Eyebrow Extender is more of an immediate solution. This pen applicator is filled with a gel and fiber solution that adheres to the skin and creates the look of fuller brows immediately. Available in three shades, this will get you through that awkward growing out stage.

And in case you’re unsure of the strong brow trend, here are a few shots of backstage beauty at New York Fashion Week Spring/Summer 2012 last month.
