I’m one of those people who doesn’t wear lipstick very often, but when I do, I want it to be gorgeous. I’m not a fan of cheaper lipsticks that fade quickly, or leave a ring of color around the outer edges of my lips. If it flakes, forget it. I want it to be smooth, long lasting, and have amazing pigments. Also, I don’t want to pay a fortune for it, because it’s lipstick, not a Prada bag. And overall, I can usually find a color I like in any line, no matter the price point. But I love to explore new lines, and this week I was able to play with the Bonita lipsticks by new cosmetic company Yagolicious.
Matador Red is a true red. The kind of red that stops people in the street and opens doors for you. The color payoff is intense, and the formula was very long lasting. I started with a lip primer as well as a liner, and blotted it well, then reapply. It’s beyond lovely, and should be a standard in everyone’s makeup case, especially those with a retro or vintage twist. You don’t need heavy eye makeup with this color – let it carry an understated look.
It’s a tomato red, and would look fantastic on a warm skin tone. Next up was Blue Rose lipstick:
I die for a blue based fuchsia. It started many years ago, and my love affair has never lessened. Lips, nails, you name it, and I will throw a blue based fuchsia on it. The blue in the formula can make your teeth appear whiter, and the cool based color really pops on my warmer toned skin.
The Yagolicious line was launched in 2009 with the introduction of fluorescent eye paints and black mascara. The line grew to include lip glosses, lipsticks, and cream gel eyeliner, all priced reasonably and packed with good-for-your-skin nutrients such as cucumber, jojoba, vitamins C, E, and A, as well as caster oil and Chamomile. Yagolicious Cosmetics is not tested on animals and is non-comedogenic, fragrance, sulfate, and paraben free.
Bonita lipsticks are $13.95, and are available at Yagolicious Cosmetics.
