Bond No. 9 releases the sixth in the Andy Warhol series; I develop a serious lemming

Andy Warhol by Bond No. 9My love of Bond No. 9 knows no bounds. My very first Bond purchase was Silver Factory, the first of the Andy Warhol fragrances, only to be followed closely by Chinatown, Nuit de Noho, Fire Island, and every single Warhol release Bond has done since. Clearly, Bond knew that I didn’t really have much on my holiday wish list this year, so they decided to throw a last minute treat my way. Enter the sixth fragrance in the Warhol series: Andy Warhol.

Most of the Warhol fragrances have celebrated a specific location that Warhol lived and worked, but Andy Warhol will celebrate the artist himself with this androgynous fragrance. On the bottle, there is a portrait of Warhol, Photomat-style, at 35 wearing sunglasses, a trench coat, and white business shirt. It was taken approximately in 1963 or 1964. As always, a percentage of the proceeds will benefit the Andy Warhol Foundation.

The notes are intriguing as well. The top notes opening up this fragrance include Italian bergamot, peach juice, red rose, and cumin. The middle notes are, as Bond says, “a Warholian mix of mischief mingled with eros”: honeyed centrifolia rose, white patchouli, cistus ambre, jasmine, frankincense, and oud. The base notes are “full throttle 60s aphrodisiac” with amber, red sandalwood, mulled plum, vanilla bean, and plenty of musk. It sounds wonderfully intriguing and complex. I cannot wait to sniff it.

Andy Warhol by Bond No. 9 is available now at all six Bond boutiques in New York City as well as Saks Fifth Avenue. $260 for 100 mL, $180 for 50 mL.
