If you haven’t heard about Revlon’s Lip Butters, then clearly you must be living under a rock. I can’t look through my Twitter feed or Google Reader without seeing the love (and hate, for that matter) all over the place. So of course I HAD to try it out.
I fall firmly in the lovers camp. For $7.50, I get a nice lip balm with a gorgeous color that isn’t so sheer that you wonder why they bothered putting pigment in it at all. The photos above are of Cherry Tart, a lovely red that will actually show up on your lips, unlike many lip tints I’ve tried in the past.
I’m a little bitter over all the money I’ve spent on “tinted” lip balms.
I find the formula to very moisturizing, but I never used it on already dehydrated lips. If you are not slathering lip balm on your lips right before you are turning out the lights before bed, you must start. At any rate, it keeps my lips feeling soft and hydrated all day. The lasting power isn’t as great as long wearing lipsticks, but you do usually have to sacrifice a bit of wear for hydration. I had to reapply every three hours or so. Depending on how much I am eating, drinking, and kissing.
I also want to mention the packaging. I am a complete sucker for anything that is retro-inspired, and the quilted matching color covers are just adorable.
Revlon Lip Butters are available at mass merchandisers and drugstores for about $7.50. Be sure to look for sales and stock up on all the shades including Pink Truffle, Fig Jam, Peach Parfait, Brown Sugar, Tutti Fruitti, Raspberry Pie, Sugar Frosting, Candy Apple, Red Velvet, and Cotton Candy.
