Elisa Palomino, who recently had her first runway show at Mercedes Benz New York Fashion Week, has released her fall/winter ready to wear collection. Fun, very feminine, and extremely color-driven, the line is inspired by 1920′s Japanese illustrator Kasho Takahata who had the majority of his work published in post-war teen fashion magazines. The illustations often highlighted the divide between traditional Japanese fashion and the desire to emulate their Western counterparts. See the entire collection after the jump.

From the Elisa Palomino press release:

It starts with soft flesh colors where nude suede and lace flappers mix with silk fringed numbers. Puffer jackets are redesigned in a sophisticated twist, embellished, sometimes with climbing roses, others with cherry blossom motives or slinky panne velvet. The flesh tones evolve into autumn shades of yellows and burnt oranges in maple prints with chunky knits and exotic feathers. Everything turns then into winter rose, where more suede flappers are trimmed in marabu lace or tulle. There are cocoon organza and feather jackets and pink mink boleros. Cherry blossom branches crawl and bloom over chunky knits, over felted wool coats and laser-cut leather winter bride coats. Winter rose fades into fuchsia where a velvet garden flourishes over a tiny cheongsham, and a few velvet poppies frame a low waist frock. Then the palette turns into soft shades of lilacs, purples and more dramatic blacks. Violets grow over more chunky knits and organza skirts, cocktail dresses made out of gigantic embroidered sequins or ostrich feather fringes are trapped in threadwork and jet beads. A dramatic Erte coat in black shearling and trimmed fox competes with a glorious panne velvet opera cape to close this magic show.

Elisa Palomino was born in Valencia, Spain in the late ’60s. She attended St. Martins College of Art, where she completed a Masters degree in Fashion Design. After several years at Moschino, developing their whimsical irreverent style, she moved to Paris. During eight years she was Head of the Studio at John Galliano, collaborating at the same time with the Haute Couture at Christian Dior. In 2008 Elisa moves to New York to become VP of Design for Diane Von Furstenberg. In February 2010 she launched her own line.
