If you haven’t had a chance to check out the amazing Daphne Guinness exhibit at FIT, you only have until January 7th to visit. You’ll definitely want to fit this in your new years plans, because it’s a remarkable exhibition of one fashion insider’s personal style.

Guinness, long a fashion blogger’s darling, has always used fashion and style to define herself. John Richardson, friend and art historian says simply, “she’s the object of her own creativity. Her persona is her own masterpiece.” Although she doesn’t consider herself a fashion muse, she has nevertheless inspired such fashion greats as Alexander McQueen and Karl Lagerfield. Included in the display are many fashion and accessory items that she has inspired including Philip Treacy hats, Shaun Leane’s jewelry, and shoes by Christian Louboutin and Noritaka Tatehana.

The bulk of the exhibition includes items from her personal collection featuring over 100 clothing and accessory items from Chanel, Nina Ricci, Christian Lacroix, Dolce & Gabbana, Dior, Valentino, Gareth Pugh, Tom Ford and Rick Owens.

The exhibition opened September of 2011, and the fashionista was on hand to celebrate the opening with a few of her closest friends, including Oscar de La Renta, Valentino, Zac Posen, Christian Siriano and a host of other notables including Stefano Tonchi, Linda Fargo, John Dempsey, Patrick McDonald and Susan Bartsch. All sipped on Kim Crawford savignon blanc and admired her amazing couture collection.

The Museum at FIT is located in the heart of the Fashion District in New York City at Seventh Avenue and 27th Street in Manhattan. Museum hours are Tuesday through Friday from noon to 8 PM and Saturday from 10 AM to 5 PM. The museum is closed on Sundays, Mondays, and legal holidays, so be sure to plan accordingly.

“She is one of the—if not the—most stylish women living,” said designer and film director Tom Ford. High praise, indeed.
