• Since 2005, the School of Fashion at Academy of Art University in San Francisco has premiered the collections of recent graduates during Mercedes-Benz New York Fashion Week. This season, six women‚s wear collections from the Fashion, Textile and Knitwear Design programs will be presented.

• The season six winner of Project Runway was inspired by the evolution of flight with the Fall collection paying homage to The Da Vinci Glider, Amelia Earhart and wings from our most natural fliers, exotic birds from around the world.
• Shabayeva‚s Fall collection is a delicate balance between the ethereal and the industrial while debuting five pieces using Tupperware® materials, in addition to many accessories on the runway.

• Leading global African-themed style and cultural magazine ARISE selected top African designers Black Coffee, Loin Cloth and Ashes along with Deola Sagoe to showcase Fall/Winter 2010 designs during the publication‚s AFRICAN COLLECTIVE PART III Mercedes Benz Fashion Week runway presentation.

• Womenswear designer Kati Stern unveils her collection that was designed for the red carpet, in which she offers luxurious fabrics, precise tailoring and dazzling embellishments. Venexiana is the go-to house for rock-n-roll haute couture.

• Italian luxury lingerie brand, La Perla, will showcase their collection with a cocktail presentation and with a new brand strategy. The La Perla brand has an emphasis on femininity and sensuality while La Perla Villa Toscana is a more relaxed and refined styles.

• The Heart Truth’s Red Dress Collection Fashion Show will unveil its newest collection of red dresses designed to celebrate the Red Dress as the national symbol for women and heart disease awareness.  More than 20 of today‚s hottest celebrities will walk the runway in dresses created by America‚s top designers to inspire women to take action to protect their heart health.
• A selection of designer dresses worn by celebrities in The Heart Truth‚s Red Dress Collection Fashion Shows will be auctioned off through a partnership with Clothes Off Our Back.

Don’t worry, beauties – I’ll have lots more for you after the show. This is just a little taste of what we can expect from the always-amazing Ports 1961 Fall and Winter Collection 2010 at Mercedes Benz Fashion Week.

Project Runway’s fifth season standout contestant Korto Momolu (Cut • Toe – Mo • Mo • Lu) will debut The Korto Momolu Collection, a contemporary female apparel and accessories line during New York City Fashion Week at the Union Square Ballroom on February 15, 2010. Momolu gained national recognition after participating in Bravo’s hit reality competition series, and this will be Momolu’s first showcase and collection since appearing on the show.

“This is my return to fashion week after Project Runway, so it’s important for me to establish my voice,” said Momolu. Known for her intrinsic creations, Momolu opted for a collection of serene designs that her lifestyle, cultural and design background. “The fall 2010 collection is an eclectic blend of rich fabrics, detailed beading and infusion of northern African influences. It holds true to everything I am as a designer, focusing on fit, structure and detail.”

Korto Momolu, a native of Liberia, West Africa, easily stands out from the rest and has already captured the attention of the fashion industry elite. The Korto Momolu Collection includes exquisite apparel designs and carefully hand-crafted accessories with prices ranging from $150.00 to $1600.00. Additionally, her collection will include a sneak peek at the signature handbag and jewelry line exclusively designed for Dillard’s Department Stores and Dillard’s online, scheduled to launch in all stores on February 15, 2010, coinciding with her runway presentation.

Highlighted as one to watch, Korto has been featured by EOnline.com, Essence, LA Times, InStyle, African Vibes, Washingtonian magazine, Southwest Airlines Spirit magazine and more.
