Versace continues their crystal collection with the lovely Yellow Diamond

It started with Crystal Noir, released in 2004, and then the crystal collection continued in 2006 with the lighter Bright Crystal by the house of Versace. Now they are giving us Yellow Diamond, the “crystal that turns into a diamond”. This light and airy floral is destined to be popular in today’s fragrance landscape – with it’s crystal topper and baroque packaging.

The fragrance opens with lemon, bergamot, neroli, and pear sorbet. Can you taste the sweetness yet? The heart of the fragrance opens up with neroli blossom, freesia, mimosa, and water lily, and the lingering base is composed of amber, precious musk, and guaiac wood. Honestly, if you looked up “sweet fruity floral”, there would be a picture of this fragrance.

It’s hard to articulate what this fragrance conjures up for me. I think of spring, of the orange trees I used to smell and see in California. It’s light and crystalline, certainly, but has a bit of depth that surprised me. I think it’s the musk, but it’s not a dirty fragrance at all – it’s very clean and almost pure.

The eau de toilette is available in a 1.7 ounce or a three ounce bottle, a lotion, and various different sets, and you can find it at Nordstrom.

For those who are lovers of all things beauty, The Makeup Show NYC is a wonderland. Multiple floors of cosmetics, tools, demonstrations and even learning opportunities such as seminars and keynotes. Held at the Metropolitan Pavilion in downtown New York City, the best companies come to show off new products, offer up pro discounts, and educate attendees on how best to incorporate their products into their makeup kits.

If you have never attended The Makeup Show, it’s well worth the trip. Currently, the show is held yearly in NYC, LA, Berlin, Chicago, and Orlando. Every year it just keeps getting bigger and bigger, which means the learning opportunities are more and more. Here are a few photos from my trip to The Makeup Show this year in New York City.

The Makeup Show NYC 2012 kicks off today

Good morning, kittens! I am coming to you from the lovely New York City, where I am in town for the getting-bigger-every-year Makeup Show 2012! And while I have not yet gotten any coffee (who has heard of a hotel room with no coffee pot??), I wanted to share a few photos from last night’s cocktail party hosted by The Makeup Show, Make Up For Ever, and HauteLook, where the theme was Andy Warhol. Check out the amazing artistry!

Get the look: Hailee Steinfeld at the 2012 Met Gala

Stephen Sollitto for tarte created this fresh faced look for Gailee Steinfeld at this year’s exclusive Met Gala. His inspiration was, “I knew I wanted to create a playful and colorful look for Hailee, to compliment her exquisite Prada dress.” Read on for the complete breakdown!

To begin, Stephen used tarte’s Amazonian Clay waterproof concealer to even out Hailee’s complexion. He then used tarte’s airbrush finish bamboo foundation brush to buff in Amazonian clay 12 hour full coverage foundation with broad spectrum SPF to create a flawless complexion. He then brushed tarte’s Amazonian clay 12 hour blush in exposed, a warm nude, on the apples of her cheeks and along her cheekbones.

On the eyes, he applied Amazonian clay waterproof cream eyeshadow in plum smoke on her lids. To add further definition, he used tarte’s smolderEYES Amazonian clay waterproof liner in bronze along her lash lines to make her eyes pop. He finished by lining her eyes in tarte’s Amazonian clay waterproof liner in black. For extra volume, Stephen used two coats of lights, camera, lashes! 4-in-1 clinically proven mascara.

To complete the look, Stephen used LipSurgence matte lip tint in lucky, then added major shine with tarte’s new maracuja divine shine lip gloss in glisten.

Motions Global Ambassador Ursula Stephen gives the following tips on how to achieve this fashion-forward style which she says was “inspired by an illustrated cartoon character” she once ripped out of a magazine and has since been carrying around in her wallet for years:

Start by sectioning the hair into three ponytails, one at the front of the head, slightly off to the side, one at the crown of the head, slightly off to the opposite side and the last one at the nape of the neck, slightly off to the same side as the section at the front of the head
For each ponytail, twist from the end and wrap around itself into a loose bun, pinning to secure and gently tugging on pieces to achieve an “undone” look.
